South Korean President Congratulates Samdech Techo Hun Sen on His Re-election

South Korean President Mr. Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory letter to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, on his re-election as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

On behalf of the government and people of Republic of Korea, I would like to sincerely congratulate Samdech Techo Prime Minister on the landslide victory in July parliamentary election and on your re-election as the Prime Minister. I believe that the brilliant leadership of Samdech Techo will lead Cambodia to become a sustainably prosperous country”, said Mr. Moon Jae-in in his congratulatory letter circulated today.

Mr. Moon Jae expressed his satisfaction that Korea and Cambodia have been strengthening friendly relations and cooperation in many sectors after diplomatic restoration in 1997. He also expressed his warmest thanks to Samdech Techo Prime Minister for his special attention and support for the progress of the relations between the two countries.

I hope that from now on I look forward to cooperating with Samdech Techo in developing bilateral relations between our two countries for mutual interest and more prosperity toward the future”, continued Mr. Moon Jae-in.

Apart from the South Korean President, leaders of other friendly countries including China, Russia, Germany, Japan and Ukraine and so on have also extended congratulations to Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his re-election as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

It is noted that relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea were re-established on May 15, 1996, by two leaders: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Mr. Kim Dae-jung, President of the Republic of Korea. The two countries officially reopened their embassies on October 30, 1997.
