French Prime Minister Mr. Edouard PHILIPPE, in his letter dated September 17, 2018 to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, expressed the availability of France to support Cambodia.
“As Cambodia begins a new chapter in its history, under the authority of the new government you are leading, allow me to express the availability of France to stand alongside your country to support the building of democratic Cambodia, in peace and inclusive development,” said Mr. Edouard PHILIPPE.
“France will support your efforts to pursue an open and constructive dialogue with the various actors in political life, civil society and the media,” continued Mr. Edouard PHILIPPE.
French Prime Minister Mr. Edouard PHILIPPE also welcomed recent developments concerning a number of opponents, most recently Mr. Kem Sokha, activist Tep Vanny, two former journalists of Radio Free Asia, Mr. Oun Chhin and Mr. Yeang Sothearin, and Human Rights defender Mr. Moeun Tola.
“France and Cambodia are united by exceptionally strong historical, cultural and human ties. I hope that we will have a dense dialogue on all our subjects of common interest, and that we will work together to develop our numerous cooperation,” added Mr. Edouard PHILIPPE.
France is the second major EU country following Germany, which extended its congratulations to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on his reelection of Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has received many congratulatory letters from different world leaders after the landslide victory of his Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) in the general elections on July 29, 2018, controlled all 125 parliamentary seats. The CPP took 4.8 million of 6.9 million votes.
