Phnom Penh, September 21, 2018 —
International funding agencies are positive of Cambodia’s economic outlook for the sixth legislature and look forward to continue their support to the Royal Government of Cambodia.
The shared optimism was echoed in a separate meeting between the Minister of Economy and Finance and visiting Asian Development Bank (ADB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh recently.
Ms. Cleo Kawawaki, ADB Deputy Director General for Southeast Asia Department, spoke highly of Cambodia’s rapid growth with the increase of the gross domestic product per capita by about seven folds to some US$1,500 now since 1992.
ADB, she added, will support partnership framework development with Cambodia so as to continue contributing to the country’s development for the sixth-mandate government and beyond.
From his part, Deputy Director of the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department Dr. Markus Rodlauer grounding on his team’s assessment told Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Academician Aun Pornmoniroth that Cambodia’s growth 2018 will go beyond expectation.
He also expressed his confidence that the new Royal Government of Cambodia will bring about more progress.
In separate response, H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth thanked the visiting delegates for their on-going support and appreciated their respective institutions for the contribution to the development of Cambodia.
